We have great news on today’s World Elephant Day: Two healthy babies were welcomed in one of the logging elephant families at Lake Indawgyi in Myanmar! The young males were already born on July 11th and 14th 2021 and now belong to a herd of 13 individuals.

Unlike many other logging elephants, the newcomers are part of a united family. Their respective mothers are actually mother and daughter, which is typical for a naturally grown elephant herd. Mothers and daughters usually stay together and constitute the centre of a herd.

Our local team is visiting them regularly, supporting the owners and mahouts (elephant guides) taking care of the babies.
