It is high time to protect 690 square kilometers of primary rainforest in the Peruvian Amazon, because oil and timber companies have already kept an eye on the region. “Chances for Nature” and the local association “los lwatzu” want to establish a conservation area at the Rio Tapiche – Rio Blanco river system. The Bingo Environmental Foundation of Lower Saxony helps with 9400 euros. The aim is to obtain a conservation concession that officially protects the area for 40 years. In the course of the application, a five-year management plan must be submitted to the Peruvian Government. The Bingo Environmental Foundation funds the application procedure.

The Bingo Environment Foundation of Lower Saxony supports environmental and nature conservation projects as well as projects for development and the preservation of monuments. The Foundation is financed by gambling tax revenues, especially from the Bingo Environmental Lottery. For further information www.bingo-umweltstiftung.de.
